Singer

Jocelyn Chng wears several hats in different fields. She is vocally trained in musical theatre singing, and has many years of choral and a cappella experience.

In her professional work she has freelanced as a performance and movement practitioner, writer, educator and producer. In her movement practice she is particularly interested in improvisational and somatic work, examining and encouraging a phenomenological awareness of our lived experience. She is curious about the relationship between voice and movement, and how somatics can support the body-as-instrument.

Jocelyn holds a double Masters in Theatre Studies/Research from the Universities of Amsterdam and Tampere, and a PG Dip in Education (Dance Teaching) from the University of Bath. She has written criticism for several platforms since 2013, including Centre 42, Arts Equator, The Straits Times and The Flying Inkpot. She is a part-time lecturer at LASALLE College of The Arts.
