Adyll Hardy Avatar

Welcome to Part 3 of the Humans of Vox series 2021. Humans of Vox is a series featuring members who make up Vox Camerata. Do check out Part 1 and Part 2 if you have not. In this post, Hong Kiat shares his experience as a member of the Tenor section.

Introduce yourself. What section are you from?

Oon Hong Kiat from Tenor.

What does “Tenor” mean?

The Tenor section, to me, means that sometimes we sing the melodies. Sometimes we sing harmonies to support the altos or sopranos.

How would you describe your section?

Playful and passionate.

Could you describe what happens during rehearsals?

Rehearsals always start with serious business where we go through the scores to learn to songs. However, when it’s time to take a break, that’s usually when the light-hearted banter between the members begins, which ends up being the highlight of the rehearsals.

What is your favourite memory of Vox Camerata community choir?

It was my first time meeting them at Sing and Greet 2020. I was amazed at how welcoming and warm they were to me despite me having zero choir experience. That made me decide to join the choir.

What is unique about Vox Camerata community choir?

It’s a place where people from all walks of life come together for a common goal, to create music that they are passionate about.

Thank you Hong Kiat for sharing your experience and for being a part of Vox Camerata!

Stay tuned for Part 4 of the series featuring a member of the Bass section.
